Another hotel is in the works for west Gainesville

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

Plans are underway for the construction of another hotel on Browns Bridge Road in the same commercial complex that houses the Hilton Garden Inn and Fairfield Inn and Suites.

The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board will consider a variance request from the developer, Aneesh Patel, when it meets next month.  Patel is asking that the stream buffer requirement on the property be reduced from 75 to 25 feet because of the "shape of the land" and an existing storm water facility.

In addition, the planning and appeals board is scheduled to consider an annexation request for 20.42 acres at White Sulphur and Pine Valley roads where Timothy Bullard plans a 240-unit apartment complex.  According to the planning board's agenda, the apartment complex - consisting of eleven buildings - would be marketed to low- to moderate-income individuals.

A third item on the agenda is a request from Jack Bailey for the rezoning of 3.39 acres in the Chestatee Drive/Dixon Drive/Wilshire Road area.  Bailey is proposing 14 residential town homes for the site.  The development would consist of three, two-story buildings.  Access to the site would be from Wilshire Road.

The planning board meets May 10 at 5:30 at the Gainesville Justice Center on Queen City Parkway.
