GAINESVILLE — The Chestatee offense put on a show to close out the War Eagles' season Wednesday on Senior Night.
Chestatee pounded out 14 hits and had 10 RBI as team in taking a wild, back-and-forth 13-10 victory over Monroe Area at War Eagles Field.
With the win Chestatee (11-15, 7-9 Region 8-AAAA) finished fifth in the region. They closed out the seasonw ith a three-game win streak and overtook Stephens County, who lost its final three games of the season.
Sean Irick continued is strong finish with three hits and five RBI for Chestatee. Cameron Wilson, Joe Sutton, Braxton Nicholson, and Mikey Petraroi each had two hits and combined for three RBI for the War Eagles.
Austin Sargent picked up the win pitching going four innings in relief allowing four runs on five hits while striking out four.
Chestatee led 4-1 after the second inning bu the Hurricanes fought back with a five-run third to retake the lead 6-4. They made it 7-4 with a run in the fourth before the War Eagles tied the game at 7 in the bottom of the fourth.
Monroe Area reclaimed the lead 10-7 with three runs in the fifth. Chestatee retook the lead for good exploding for six runs in the sixth.
