FLOWERY BRANCH — Both Flowery Branch tennis teams moved into the second round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs Tuesday.
The Lady Falcons took a dominating 5-0 win over Chapel Hill at home while the boys knocked off Region 5-AAAAA champion East Paulding 3-0 on the road.
Neither team dropped a set in taking the wins.
For the Lady Falcons, Olivia Correa, Annabelle Thomas, and Peyton Brick each took wins in singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Kylie McGuire anmd Marissa Barrett and the No. 2 team of Kaia Clark and Bailey Sims also got wins.
For the boys, Phillip Correaat at No. 1 and Tucker Small wood at No. 3 singles both got wins with the No. 2 doubles team of Dylan Klerlain and Jacob Holston won to help clinch the match.
The Lady Falcons, the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAAA, next will take on the Harris County-Starr's Mill winner in the second round.
The Flowery Branch boys, who came in as the No. 4 seed from 8-AAAAA, will play the winner of the Columbus-Union Grove first round matchup on the road.
Dates and times for both matches have yet to be determined.
