UPDATED: Forestry officials report Saturday's wildfire northwest of Helen was caused by a human.
Holly Krake, spokeswoman for the U.S. Forest Service, said Sunday the fire was started by a human and the exact cause remains under investigation.
The fire, which consumed 22 acres, was fully contained Sunday, Krake said. Fire managers will continue to monitor and patrol the area. Interior pockets of heavier forest woody material was expected to smolder through Sunday.
Information on the U.S. Forest Service Facebook page described the fire location as being in rugged terrain in the Upper Chattahoochee River area west of Ga. 75.
The fire first was reported around 3 p.m. Saturday to White County 9-1-1.
White County fire units responded, and notified forestry officials. A total of 13 forestry personnel completed containment lines around the fire, using a bulldozer and wildland fire engine.
At one point, a Georgia Department of Natural Resource helicopter was requested, but officials later cancelled that request.
