Former Hall County Commissioner Ashley Bell and two others were elected Saturday to help represent Georgia at the Republican National Convention.

Bell, Bruce Azevedo (the Chairman of the 9th District Republican Party), and Carol Mahoney were elected at the party's District Convention in Clayton.

Elected alternate delegates were Tommy Benton, Carl Blackburn and Andrew Clyde.

In a posting on his Facebook page, Bell said "With the support of our Hall County GOP, the Republican Women of Hall County and all our friends in the 9th District, I was humbled to be elected in a three- person race with 80% of the vote. It will truly be an honor and a historic privilege to represent Hall County and the 9th District in Cleveland."

Bell was nominated by another former Hall County Commissioner, Craig Lutz. "I couldn't think of anyone better to represent the 9th district's conservative values," Lutz said in a Facebook posting.  "Thanks for accepting the call to action."

The National Convention will be held in July in Cleveland.
