UPDATE: Autopsy scheduled for Monday on body found in Lake Lanier

By B.J. Williams

Authorities are trying to identify a female body that was found floating in Lake Lanier Sunday morning, but that may not be an easy task.

Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes said the body was badly decomposed.

"We're going to go back with our investigators and we're going to check any missing persons records and we're going to work with any neighboring agencies with their missing persons records, as well," Bailes said.

To determine the cause of death, an autopsy will be conducted on the body Monday at the Dekalb County Medical Examiner's Offiice, according to Bailes.

Fishermen spotted the body Sunday morning around 11:30 in the area of the Dawsonville Highway bridge. They called 911 and a team from Hall County Fire Services used its marine rescue boat to retrieve the body from the water.
