On a windy Saturday night at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley, South Carolina, Luke Sorrow walked off with his second victory at the track this season in the Limited Late Model feature.
Sorrow and Colby Howard led the field down to the start of the 75-lap feature. Sorrow got the jump on the start and his sister-in-law, Taylor Sorrow passed Howard to take second. They ran that way for the first 32 laps until fourth place runner Bob Root crashed in turn three to draw the caution.
Luke Sorrow, Taylor Sorrow, Howard, Tasha Kummer and Adam Satterfield made up the top five for the restart with 43 laps left. Ron Hall, Phillip Peters and Anthony Miller followed.
When the green flag flew once again it was Luke Sorrow driving away and building a lead he would never relinquish. Running some of his fastest times at the end of the race, Luke crossed the line for his second Greenville-Pickens feature win of the year with a margin of nearly two seconds.
Taylor Sorrow finished up in second, with Howard in third, Kummer in fourth and Adam Satterfield in fifth
In other action, Buck Simmons and Ashley Granata made up the front row for the Pure Stock feature. When the green flag dropped, Chris Meinders charged on the outside and took the lead on the opening lap.
With the race going green the whole way, the field stacked up with two and three wide action. Simmons stayed in second for much of the race until mechanical issues caused him to drop back, allowing father and son Chirs Meinders and Charlie Meinders to battle for the lead.
At the checkers it was Charlie Meinders on the outside taking the win with father Chris Meinders in second. Spencer Morgan finished in third, with Hank Hutto in fourth and Granata in fifth.
Next out on the track were the 4-cylinders. Chad Redding and Don Tavernia brought the 4-Cylinder feature to the green. Redding sped off with the lead and managed to keep a few car lengths in front of Donvan Beacham and Tommy Davis. That advantage went away when Michael Webster and Derek Fowler tangled in turn three to bring out the caution.
That set up a five lap dash to the finish. Beacham made a power move off the outside groove to take the lead and drove away to score his first win of the season. Redding finished in second, with Davis third, Dannon Esco fourth and Chad Tavernia fifth.
Terry Thurston led flag to flag to pick up a caution-free victory in the Renegade feature. Eddie Ray, Spenser Darnell, Bobby Emory and Steve Guthrie rounded out the top five.
Ricky Stephens started from the pole for the Super Stock feature, but it was Robin Darnell powering form fourth place to lead the first lap. Darnell pulled away to a healthy lead and went on to score the win in a race that went wire-to-wire without a caution. Stephens finished in second, with Tim Sams in third, Travis Cox in fourth and Stanley Pressley in fifth.
Greenville-Pickens Speedway will run a special Friday night show on April 8, featuring twin 75-lap races for the Late Model Stocks, along with action form the Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, 4-Cylinders and Renegades.
