Georgia Mountains Regional Commission's executive director announces plans to retire

The head of the Gainesville-based Georgia Mountas Regional Commission plans to retire before the end of the year.

Executive Director Danny Lewis' plans are outlined in the latest monthly newsletter from the regional planning agency.

According to the article, the commission council has approved the hiring of an Interim Deputy Executive Director, who will come from within the organization and will help in the transition from Lewis to the new Executive Director.  

Lewis expects to retire between August 1 and December 31.   He has held the post for eleven years, coming to the commission, which serves 13 northeast Georgia counties, from Newnan, where he was city manager.
