Region 8-AAAAA will take center stage this week when titans Gainesville and Loganville will clash in a home-and-home series beginning on Monday.
The two teams are unbeaten in the region standings. The Red Elephants will play host to the Red Devils on Monday and then travel to Loganville on Wednesday.
However, Winder-Barrow is just a game behind Gainesville and one-half behind Loganville and opens a series with Salem, who has lost two straight.
In Region 8-AAAA, all but one team is within one game of a possible playoff spot, though it is still early in the season. Four of the top five teams will face off during the week. Monroe Area and North Hall will tangle in home-and-home series while North Oconne and Buford will take on each other. The Trojans are a surprising 4-0 so far to lead the region.
In Region 7-AAA, Franklin County and Dawson County still remain as the only unbeaten teams. The Lions take on last-place Banks County in a three-game series this week while Dawson County takes on East Hall, which could take over second place with a sweep of the Tigers. Lumpkin County got back into the race with a pair of wins last week and takes on Fannin County this week.
Region 8-AAA continues to be tight with Jefferson, Hart County, and Jackson County all within a game of each other. The Panthers are off from region play this week but Jefferson takes on East Jackson and Hart County battles Elbert County in a pair of three-game series.
In Region 8-AA, Union County has opened up a 1 1/2 game lead on the rest of the field after sweeping Oglethorpe County last week.The Panthers will take on rival Rabun County on Tuesday.
