Three school records fall on Day 1 of Emory Invitational

ATLANTA — On Day 1 of the Emory Invitational, the Piedmont College track and field teams saw three school records fall.

The Lions competed in just five events on day one with five personal bests set in the third outdoor meet of the season. 

The first school record broken was JOSH REDMOND breaking his own mark in the 400m hurdles as he went under a minute with a 59.02. Redmond's first collegiate 400m hurdle competition came at the outdoor opener at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals.

The men's and women's 3000m steeplechase record fell as both JARROD HOWELL and REESE BOWLES broke their own records again in their second time in the event. Howell ran a near 20-second personal best with a time of 10:45.35 while Bowles ran a 22-second PR finishing eighth overall at 12:20.00. 

Both NATHAN CREWS and WILLIAM FOSTER set new personal bests in the men's 1500m run as Crews ran a 4:37.21 and Foster a 4:44.16. MARINA POWELL competed in the women's hammer throw and threw within two meters of her personal best on her first attempt, but neither of her other two attempts were measured as they did not meet the required minimum. 

Standout Performances
--JOSH REDMOND broke his own school record, breaking a minute in the 400m hurdles running a 59.02. 

Inside the Results
--The Piedmont track and field teams have set or broken school records at each meet of the season this year. 

News & Notes
--In each meet, Piedmont has set no less than three school records, recording three this week on the first day of competition.
