Groundbreaking was held Friday for a new 109-acres park in Forsyth County.
Lanierland Park will be located off of Jot Em Down Road, and its construction is being funded by the Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond approved by voters in 2008 and by Impact Fees. The new park will feature four rectangular synthetic-turf fields, two picnic pavilions, a playground, restroom and concession facility, and parking.
“This new park will be an amazing amenity for the county, and particularly for the residents of northeast Forsyth County,” said County Commissioner Jones Mills, in whose district the park will be located. “This part of our county is in great need of athletic fields, so for us to be able to build four synthetic-turf rectangular fields here is wonderful.”
