A dispatcher for Dawson County 911 has been fired from her job following her arrest on drug manufacturing charges.
Dawson County Sheriff Billy Carlisle said Reeves and her husband are charged with growing marijuana in their home. He said Phillip Reeves was arrested last week when officers placed an undercover drug buy, and Sara Reeves was implicated after her husband's arrest.
"Our drug unit was making some undercover drug buys and they bought from him on Friday morning," said Carlisle.
He said the drug buy led to a search of Reeves' home, and deputies found marijuana plants growing at the house, along with drug paraphernalia.
Carlisle said Sara Reeves was out of town over the weekend, but she was questioned on Monday and turned herself in for arrest on Wednesday. Carlisle said Reeves was fired from her job on Monday; she had worked as a 911 operator since September 2015.
"[Situations like this] are very hard because you lose your trust and it hurts," said Carlisle. "To be honest with you, it makes every law enforcement officer and 911 employee look bad when something like this happens, so it's difficult to accept this."
Carlisle said Phillip Reeves has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, manufacturing marijuana, obstruction of officer and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Sara Reeves has been charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
