A second free-standing Starbucks location is coming to Gainesville, and officials said the new store will occupy the old Blockbuster store on Thompson Bridge Road, near the Walmart Neighborhood Market.
Officials announced Wednesday that the company has signed a long-term lease for the space, after 15 months of negotiations.
"I am very happy to announce that we finally have a deal to bring them to the north side of Gainesville. I think it's a perfect high profile location for them with easy access in and out for their customers. We are going to totally remodel the existing building and invest more than half million dollars to continue with the redevelopment of this area," said Rock Baker, developer with Bre-Rock Developing, LLC, in a press release.
"Based upon our site plans, there will be a high capacity video drive thru lane, a very nice outdoor patio seating area with umbrellas and of course the interior will be Starbucks' latest design."
Baker said the new facility should be opened by late July or early August, and negotiations are ongoing as to which businesses will takeover the other three units within the complex.
Starbucks already has one store on Dawsonville Highway, near Texas Roadhouse.
