Setting a new Peach Belt Conference record, University of North Georgia ace Courtney Poole has been named the PBC AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week for the fourth consecutive week, a feat that had previously not been accomplished since the award was started in 1993. Poole has earned the award in every week in which she has pitched this season, five times in total.
The Watkinsville native shutdown an Armstrong State offense that was entering conference play on fire, averaging eight runs a game in their previous five contests. Poole surrendered just one run in 14.0 innings pitched (0.50 ERA) allowing seven hits and three walks while striking out 18 Pirates on the day.
The UNG senior leads the nation in victories (23), strikeouts (227), and shutouts (10).
North Georgia will continue its spring break road trip with a doubleheader at Flagler later this afternoon. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
