DEMOREST — The Piedmont College baseball team used stellar pitching in a 3-1 victory to down No. 18 Marietta College in the Piedmont College Spring Classic on Friday. Riley Presnell earned the victory tossing seven innings giving up just one run and four hits while striking out five batters.

It was a pitcher's dual early on as it was scoreless after two innings but the Pioneers took the lead in the top of the third on a play with a pair of errors leading 1-0. Piedmont answered in the bottom of the frame as Will Skidmore doubled but was thrown out at third scoring Brady Ballstadt to even the score.
Zach Langley put Piedmont ahead on an RBI groundout as Evan Gresham scored making it 2-1 then a few innings later it was Langley who would score to make it 3-1 on an RBI single by Jake Browning.
Breck Davidson was the only Piedmont batter to record multiple hits as he was 2-for-4 as his pair of hits were doubles. Langley was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks as well as an RBI and run scored.
Piedmont will take on Adrian College Saturday as the Piedmont College Spring Classic continues at Loudermilk Field.
