GAINESVILLE — East Hall and West Hall split a key Region 7-AAA doubleheader Friday night at Valhalla.
The Vikings (6-4, 1-2 Region 7-AAA) took the first 13-3 in six innings while the Spartans (8-3, 2-1) rallied to take the second game, 3-0.
West Hall took the first of the three-game series on Tuesday, 12-7, at West Hall.
In the first game Friday, East Hall used a six-run fourth inning to blow the game open. Jonah Crocker got the win for the Vikings going five innings allowing three runs on eight hits while fanning eight. West Hall led 2-0 after the top of the first but East Hall took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
In the seocnd game, West Hall's Jeffrey Jenkins pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout to get the victory. Jenkins recorded six strikeouts and walked just two.
Zach Collins was 4-for-6 and Merrit Gazaway had three in the doubleheader for the Spartans.
West Hall will travel to Franklin County on Tuesday night. East Hall will play host to Fannin County on Tuesday.
