GAINESVILLE — The Lakeview Academy tennis teams bothy took narrow wins over Pinecrest Academy on Wednesday at home.
The Lakeview boys won 3-2 getting a sweep in doubles for the win.
Adam Rocico of Pinecrest beat Jonathan Kerwin 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles with the Lions' Brooks Hylton rallying from a set down to beat Garrett Witt 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 at No. 2. Pinecrest won by default at No. 3 singles.
In doubles, Lakeview's Jonathan Schaefer and Avery Jackson won a tight 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 match at No. 1 while William Ball and Tyler Grabau also won a close match 7-6, 1-6, 10-7 at No. 2 doubles to help seal the win.
The Lakeview boys improved to 4-0 on the season.
In the girls match, Lakeview's Damira Augustin came from a set down to beat Christina Aufleger 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 at No.1 singles and the Lady Lions' Presley Jackson won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2. Lakeview's Lanie Clark fell 6-3, 6-0 to Lucy Prados at No. 3 singles.
In doubles, Lakeview's Abby Gopfert and Abby Barford lost 7-6, 6-1 to Catherine Ann Brooks and Kate Massengill at No. 1 while the No. 2 team of Reece Johnson and Natalie Clark 7-6, 6-3.
The Lady Lions are now 3-1 after Wednesday's win.
