GAINESVILLE - Comedian Micah "Katt" Williams was among several individuals arrested in Gainesville early this week following a week-long investigation into claims of false imprisonment and assault.
The arrests came just eight days after Williams was arrested in an unrelated incident that saw him allegedly punch a Gainesville pool supply store employee during the course of an argument.
Williams was arrested Tuesday by members of the Hall County Sheriff's Office during the execution of a search warrant at his Lake Breeze Lane residence, according to Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes.
Bailes said the investigation followed an incident in late February where one of Williams' employees contacted authorities, claiming he had been held against his will and assaulted inside the residence.
"It was alleged that on February 28, 2016...Williams, and several of his associates, did confine Corey Dixon...after he did not engage in criminal activity as directed by Williams," Bailes said. She noted that Dixon had been employed as Williams' bodyguard.
"Dixon was brought to Williams’ residence where he was assaulted with a baseball bat and choked at the hands of 24-year-old Tatiana Smith," Bailes continued. "Dixon was also threatened by Williams that he would kill him during this assault."
Using this information, authorities on March 1st opened an official investigation that lead to the acquisition of the search warrant. Officers conducting the search on Tuesday discovered "large quantities of marijuana, along with several firearms" before making the arrests.
Bailes said Williams and another individual would face drug charges as a result of the discovery.
"As a result of locating these items, Williams and...Lena Smith were charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana."
All three individuals were transported from the scene to the Hall County Jail. The trio will face a committal hearing on Wednesday.
The following is a list of those arrested and the chares they face at last report:
- Lena Smith, 40, was arrested on charges of Felony Possession of Marijuana.
- Tatiana Smith, 24, was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault, misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Alprazolam
- Micah "Katt" Williams, 44, was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats and False Imprisonment.
Bailes added that additional drug and weapons charges will likely be levied against Williams at later date.
