Chestatee High HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) organized a fundraiser called “Pennies for Pasta” to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS conducts research and provides services and treatment to people battling various types of blood cancer.
A competition among the HOSA classes at Chestatee raised $2,017. The class that raised the highest per person amount will be treated to a catered lunch provided by the local Olive Garden franchise in Gainesville.
This fundraiser was organized by students pursuing a career in healthcare as part of their National Service Project Campaign. Chestatee HOSA was recognized at the Georgia HOSA Leadership Conference on March 1, 2016, for this outstanding service project and will be recognized again at the National HOSA Leadership Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee in June.
