MILLEDGEVILLE — The 16th-ranked North Georgia Nighthawks baseball team lost its third consecutive Peach Belt Conference game as they dropped a 5-1 decision to Georgia College Friday evening.
After starting 4-0 in Peach Belt play, North Georgia has been outscored 20-9 in the last three conference matchups.
Georgia College led 2-0 through three innings of play after Dylan Cook hit a two RBI double up the middle. Both runs were unearned.
North Georgia answered in the next frame when Steven Tomlinson scored on a Bo Edwards RBI groundout to cut the lead in half.
In the sixth, Matthew Miller got the run back on an RBI single to center field. The Bobcats scored the final two runs in the eighth on a Brandon Purcell two-run homer.
NOTES
- North Georgia is now 11-5 and 4-3 in PBC action, while Georgia College improves to 8-7 and 4-3.
- Three of the five Bobcat runs were unearned. The Nighthawks committed three errors in the field. The three errors were the most in a game this season.
- Bryce Bush (3-0) got the win, pitching two innings of two-hit relief. Bradley Spinner started for the Bobcats and pitched four innings. Brandon Agar (2-1) was tabbed with the loss after going seven innings and striking out four.
- UNG left 10 runners on base.
- Devin Gearhart laid down his seventh sacrifice bunt this season, taking over first in the conference in the process.
