A man faces a list of charges, including violation of the street gang act, in a Monday morning attack on a woman in the Oakwood area, authorities said.
The attack happened outside of a home on Tracy Lane off of McEver Road, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
Miguel Robles-Fernandes, 26, was allegedly waiting outside of the residence and grabbed the victim after she had left a vehicle and approached the home.
"Robles came out from the side of the residence and drug the female by her hair and arms to the side of the residence at knife point threatening to stab her," Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes stated in an email to AccessWDUN.
The victim, 28, tried to take the knife away from the suspect while she screamed for help, according to Bailes.
A young child in the home heard the screams and opened a carport door, giving the woman an opportunity to escape. The suspect then allegedly took her phone and fled.
Deputies were able to track Robles-Fernandez down and arrest him at another residence.
"The victim was able to identify Robles as the suspect because she had previously worked with Robles wife," Bailes wrote.
Bailes said the woman suffered injuries to her hands from the struggle and was treated at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. They required stitches, but otherwise were not described as serious or life-threatening injuries.
Bailes said at this point, it appears Robles was likely trying to commit a sexual assault of the victim. Bailes said he had told the victim in the past that he wanted a sexual relationship with her, but she did not reciprocate the feelings.
Robles-Fernandes is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping, armed robbery and four counts of violation of the street gang act.
He remained in the Hall County Jail with no bond Wednesday afternoon. A committal hearing is scheduled March 18, according to Bailes.
