DAHLONEGA — For the 12th time in her career at the University of North Georgia, Courtney Poole has been named the AstroTurf Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. Off to an incredible start in 2016, Poole has earned PBC Pitcher of the Week honors in every week that she has pitched a game in thus far.
Poole earned the win in all five of North Georgia's games last weekend at the Mid-South Classic, including four starts and four complete games with three shutouts. The weekend was highlighted by a three-hit shutout of No. 7 Catawba.
The Watkinsville native allowed just two earned runs on 15 hits in 31.0 innings pitched, striking out 45 along the way. Opponents hit just .132 against the senior over the weekend.
Poole leads the PBC in wins (14), earned run average (0.50), and strikeouts. Her 136 strikeouts are 59 more than second place.
North Georgia returns to action on Wednesday facing Lincoln Memorial in an afternoon doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., serving as UNG's 2016 home opener.
