AMERICUS — For the second time in his career, senior Tanner Plemmons tied the University of North Georgia men's basketball single game 3-point record as he deposited 9-of-12 from long distance to lead the Nighthawks to a season-ending 110-101 Peach Belt Conference win at Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday evening.
The victory caps the Nighthawks' season with a 7-21 overall record and 5-14 PBC mark.
Plemmons led five Nighthawks in double figures as he finished with 29 points, while Sean Brennan added 20 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Ebo Smith added 19 while only missing one shot on the night. The sophomore guard hit 7-of-8 shots from the field and all four of his free throw attempts.
Roderick English and T.J. Williams added 16 and 14 respectively for UNG.
Plemmons' nine made 3-pointers matched the North Georgia single game record for threes shared by himself (Nov. 18, 2014 vs. Brevard) and Jason Gibson (1995-96 season vs. Voorhees). The senior guard hit five threes in the first half and added three more in the first 4:15 of the second period. The record-tying shot came at the 3:09 mark of overtime.
UNG led by as many as 18 early in the second period, but saw the Hurricanes storm back to force the extra period with a layup by Adam Thoseby with just five seconds remaining.
