By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

The final Class A power rankings were released Wednesday, and both the Lakeview Academy boys and girls basketball teams will get a chance to make a run at a state title.

The rankings set the brackets and matchups in Class A for the upcoming state playoffs around the state, which begin Friday in Class A. The rest of the classifications began their state tournaments on Tuesday.

The Lakeview Academy girls, fresh off a Region 8-A championship, are ranked fifth and will take on fellow 8-A opponent George Walton academy in the Round of 16 at 6 p.m. Friday at the Lakeview Academy gym. That game will be part of doubleheader with the Lakeview Academy boys, who will take on 8-A rival Hebron Christian at 7:30 p.m. in the Round of 16.

The Lakeview boys, who also won the Region 8-A title, finished fourth in the final power rankings.

The Lady Lions (22-6) beat George Walton twice already -- 58-46 in the regular season and then 50-35 in the region tournament.

It will be the fourth meeting between the Lakeview boys (24-4) and Hebron (20-8) on the season. Lakeview won all three previous meetings -- 65-48 and 57-54 during the regular season, and then 71-44 in the Region 8-A finals.
