A former Flowery Branch High School football star is trying his hand at politics, ahead of the so-called "SEC Primary" on March 1.
Connor Shaw, who currently plays for the Cleveland Browns, will join Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fl.) on his campaign stops in South Carolina, according to a report in The State.
One stop in Chapin, SC Wednesday night, and the other is Thursday night in Greenville, SC.
Shaw starred as a wide receiver and quarterback at Flowery Branch from 2006-09 before embarking on a career at the University of South Carolina, where he became the Gamecocks' winningest signal caller in program history under Head Coach Steve Spurrier.
He's not the only former quarterback from the Palmetto State to make an appearance with a candidate, either.
Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd has made appearances with Ohio Governor John Kasich.
