Gainesville alums asking for photos to celebrate 125th

A group of Gainesville High School alumni are working together to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the school system this coming February.

Erin Still is a co-chair of the committee working on the 125th celebration. She said the thing they need right now is help from fellow alumni, former students and anyone else who has photographs or memorabilia.

"We're going to be filling up that gym and making a museum out of it," Still said.

She said Helen Law Perry was working on gathering photographs from the past several decades.

Perry can be reached here by email.

And, Jeff Pierce has volunteered his time to creating a museum-quality exhibit of memorabilia.

"If there's anyone with unique memorabilia, if you could get in touch with Jeff," said Still. "He's gonna be collecting all of this and he wants to take as much as he can. Of course, we're going to be filling up that gym and making a museum out of it!"

Still said Pierce has a system in place to keep tabs on each item and who it belongs to so no one's personal affects wander off.

Pierce can be reached by email here

Of course, Still said the Rock will be painted and the traveling Big Red will be in on the celebration, as well as a mystery donation that will be revealed at a later date.
