A Gwinnett County teen - who is now 15 - will spend at least 30 years in jail for the murder of a pizza delivery man from Buford earlier this year.
The sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole was the harshest sentence allowed, given Reginald Lofton's age; he was 14 when Shane Varnadore was killed. Lofton was convicted in the murder last month.
Multiple news agencies in the Atlanta area reported that Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Randy Rich told Lofton that he wanted to impose a longer sentence on the teen.
"I wish I could give you more time than I can because you're a cold-blooded killer," Rich said, according to CBS 46 News.
Lofton reportedly told the victim's family that he was not the gunman in the March 1 incident.
A second defendant, 21-year-old Jermaine Young, Lofton's brother, has yet to go on trial.
