FORT MYERS, Fla. — Ike Smith, Tookie Brown and Mike Hughes combined for 43 points as Georgia Southern pulled away from Florida Gulf Coast for a 72-59 win on Tuesday night.
Georgia Southern (5-5) snapped Florida Gulf Coast's six-game win streak and avenged an 85-82 loss 10 days earlier.
Smith had 16 points and seven rebounds. Brown was 6 of 10 from the floor for 15 points and Hughes added 12 points with four assists.
The Eagles took the lead when B.J. Gladden drilled a 3 with 14:13 left in the first half and never trailed again. They led 34-25 at the break.
Florida Gulf Coast shot 57 percent or better over its last four games, but was held to 39.2 percent (20-51) by the Eagles. Georgia Southern was 25-of-59 (42.4 percent).
Zach Johnson and Brandon Goodwin had 13 points apiece for Florida Gulf Coasts (7-4).
