Georgia Tech follows Lammers past Sam Houston State

ATLANTA (AP) — Ben Lammers scored 12 of his career-high 19 points in the first half as Georgia Tech built a 20-point lead and held on for an 81-73 win over Sam Houston State on Tuesday night.

Lammers added eight rebounds and blocked six shots. Josh Okogie had 16 points and Tadric Jackson scored 15 for the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech (3-1) led 40-20 at halftime only to watch Sam Houston State pull within 55-47 on Jamal Williams' layup with 8:49 left, but the Jackets answered with a 10-2 run and held on from there.

The Bearkats pulled within seven points late, but did not seriously threaten

John Dewey III had 15 points and Dakari Henderson scored 12 for SHSU (2-2).

Sam Houston State was within two after Aurimas Majauskas' layup with 10:31 left in the first half before the Jackets pulled away with a 17-point run. Lammers scored ninie, grabbed four rebounds and blocked three shots in that span.
