MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. — The Truett McConnell women's basketball team led the 24th-ranked Milligan Buffaloes for much of the first three quarters of play but ultimately fell, 80-72, Tuesday night. The Bears are now 3-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Bears jumped out to a 24-17 lead after one quarter of play behind the tough play from Janae' Simpson. TMU held on to a one-point lead at halftime as well, 34-33.
After a quick start in the third quarter, the Bears slowed down offensively as the Buffs heated up. Although Ariana Sanders had a 26-point night, the Buffs had four players in double figures and they held on to the eight-point victory.
Simpson finished with 19 points, and Anna Murr went 4-10 from three-point range to finish with 14 points.
The Bears will take the Thanksgiving break off and return to play Union on November 30, with tip time set for 5:30 p.m. in Cleveland.
