Improvements are coming to an intersection near Interstate 85 and Mill Creek High School in the northern portion of Gwinnett County.
Doc Hughes Road will be relocated at its intersection with Spout Springs Road, which will get a northbound turn lane during the construction process, according to a press release from Gwinnett County; new traffic lights will be added to the intersection.
On Tuesday, county commissioners approved the $1.3 million construction contract with Matriarch Construction Co., Inc. Funding for the project came from the 2014 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).
The work will also include drainage improvements, handicap ramps and new sidewalks.
The contract includes safety improvements for the intersection of Singleton Road and Tech Drive in Norcross as well.
