Rain postpones Georgia Championship races at Lavonia

While the rains were a welcomed sight for a lot of people around the southeast, it wasn’t so welcome for drivers and fans at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway.

The wet weather that moved into the area early Sunday morning washed out the Georgia State Championships at the 3/8 mile clay raceway.

Track officials made the decision Sunday morning, moving the event to next Sunday, Nov. 20.

The FASTRAK Late Models are set to headline the event, with a $3,000 to win 40-lap feature. On Saturday, Trent Ivey earned the pole for the feature with a win in the first 10-lap heat race.

Jensen Ford will start in second, with Henry Hornsby third, Cla Knight fourth and David McCoy in fifth.
