By Associated Press

ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) Roswell City Councilman Kent Igleheart has resigned.

The 53-year-old is accused of sexual exploitation of a child, enticing a child for indecent purposes and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Authorities say he maintained a four-year relationship with a girl beginning when she was 13.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/2eSCXq7 ) Igleheart wrote in an email to the council hours before it was set to meet, ``I hereby resign from Roswell City Council Post 4.'' Mayor Jere Wood, who is out of the country, replied: ``Your resignation is hereby accepted on behalf of the City of Roswell.''

Igleheart was arrested Oct. 20 and is free after posting $30,000 bond.

Roswell will call a special election within the next 60 days to fill the remainder of Igleheart's term, which expires Dec. 31, 2017.
