A vacant lot that was rezoned 10 years ago for medical offices that were never developed will once again be rezoned, this time with the hope of constructing a new O'Reilly Auto Parts store, after Tuesday's Gainesville City Council meeting.
The 1.29 acre tract located next to a CVS pharmacy at the intersection of South Enota Drive was originally rezoned from a residential property to an office and institutional property. Now it is officially classified as a neighborhood business property.
"O'Reilly's gone back to the drawing board and put together a nicer building than originally submitted," said Brent Hoffman, speaking to the council in favor of the proposal. "I don't believe we have any opposition, and I hope something gets started on this."
Hoffman was correct; no opposition was presented at the meeting leading the city council to unanimously approve the rezoning request.
