DOT plans lane closures in Hall, Barrow, Jackson counties next week

The Department of Transportation plans to close some roadways next week as crews continue working on road projects in the North Georgia area.

Crews will begin paving the left shoulder of Interstate 85 southbound in preparation to repair the bridge on Jesse Cronic Road in the Braselton area.

Work will begin Monday, October 31 from 8 p.m. until 5 the next morning. Traffic will shift right as a result.

Tuesday night, traffic will shift left on the roadway as crews install temporary barriers. That will also occur from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next day.

"This work is preparing I-85 for the traffic to shift to the shoulder starting Friday, November 4 at 8 p.m. through Monday, November 7 at 5 a.m.," said DOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland. "During this weekend, there will be a continuous double lane closure for I-85 Southbound... this will be the only weekend that a continuous lane closure is required. The bridge on Jesse Cronic cannot be traveled until these emergency repairs are completed."

Meanwhile, the DOT will also have a flagging operator directing traffic on U.S. 129/SR11 in Hall County on November 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Lanes will be closed in both directions as crews install concrete barriers along the route. The closure is from Priest Circle to Wallace Road.
