Gwinnett County elections officials to open two satellite offices to handle early voting crowds

By AccessWDUN Staff

Early voting has been popular across the state this week, but in Gwinnett County, the lines have been extra long.

This week only the headquarters office in Lawrenceville has been open for early voting. That has led to long lines and often wait times of a couple of hours. Georgia News Network reported on Tuesday that one woman said she waited for four hours to case her ballot.

Elections officials announced Thursday that they will open two of the county's seven satellite voting stations on Monday to alleviate some of the congestion at the home base.

The polling locations at George Pierce Park, 55 Buford Highway in Suwanee, and at Lenora Park, 4515 Lenora Church Road in Snellville, will open at 8 a.m. Monday and remain open through Friday, October 28 .

In addition, officials said in a press statement that they will set up an extra 15 voting machines at elections headquarters. The headquarters office will be open Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Advance voting further expands on Saturday, October 29 when these three sites plus five more locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and continue Monday through Friday, Oct. 31 – Nov. 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
