BLUE RIDGE — Dawson County ran its win streak to four streak with a dominating 52-13 victory over Fannin County Friday night in a key Region 7-AAA matchup.

It also was the fourth straight game the Tigers (5-1, 3-0 Region 7-AAA) scored 45 or more points and second consecutive game they scored 52 or more.

Dawson County has done it behind the play of junior quarterback Coey Watson, who was 10-of-15 for 253 yards with five touchdown passes. He also added 44 yards rushing as the Tigers piled up 412 yards of total offense.

Austin Young had a monster game for Dawson County with seven catches for 219 yards -- a 30.1 yards per catch average -- and four touchdowns. Nick Murphy had two receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Peyton Myers and Taylor Cronan each had 46 yards rushing and Myers had two scoring runs as well.

But as explosive as the offense has been, the defense has been equally dominant. They held the Rebels (2-5, 0-3) to just 78 yards rushing and 98 yards passing. Fannin County quarterback Brad Davis came into the game among the state’s leaders in all classifications. Receiver Cooper Earls was in the top five in yardage until Friday night.

Dawson County will travel to east Hall next week while Fannin County will head to Dahlonega to taken on Lumpkin County.
