GAINESVILLE — Commerce football stuck to its traditional ground-and-pound ways on Friday and rolled over Riverside Military in the process, knocking out the Eagles 38-0 in Gainesville.
The Tigers (5-2, 4-2 Region 8-A) continued their bounce back from a two-game losing skid by winning their second in a row thanks to 306 total yards of offense. Commerce's defense, meanwhile, surrendered just 51 yards to Riverside.
Cole Chancey paced the Tigers' triple option, rushing 26 times for 172 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Lane Sorrow also starred, scoring two second half rushing touchdowns. He also lofted a 27-yard, second quarter scoring strike to Dylan Deaton.
Austin Brock also scored for Commerce, while Luis Herrera added a 36-yard field goal.
The Tigers will play host to Towns County next week.
