WINDER — Lanier took advantage of three first quarter Winder-Barrow turnovers to take a 34-21 win over the Bulldoggs Friday night in Region 8-AAAAAA action.
The Longhorns (4-2, 1-0 Region 8-AAAAAA) got a pick-6 as one of the turnovers as they took a 21-0 lead after the opening period.
Winder-Barrow (4-3, 1-1) trailed 27-7 at halftime after Brock Landis scored on a rushing touchdown. The Bulldoggs continued to chip away in the third quarter getting a pair of Landis touchdown passes to Casey Thurmond to pull within 27-21 heading into the fourth quarter.
Lanier, however, would put the game away with a 7-minute touchdown drive in the final period.
Winder-Barrow will travel to Gainesville next week while Lanier will play host to Habersham Central.
