University of North Georgia senior Courtney Poole was named to the Peach Belt's Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced on Thursday. Poole was the only UNG representative on the team that is composed of one player from each position and one at-large utility player.
The Watkinsville native is coming off a record-breaking season that set 11 new PBC records. Poole was named NFCA National Player of the Year, Daktronics National Pitcher of the Year, and PBC Pitcher of the Year for her remarkable 2015 campaign.
The Nighthawk ace had an amazing 0.98 earned run average last season striking out 366 while only allowing 31 walks in her 47-win year. Poole pitched 42 complete games in 2015, including 19 of the 24 conference contests.
North Georgia will open their season alongside fellow PBC programs Armstrong State, Augusta, and Columbus State next weekend at the Peach Belt/Gulf South Southern Softball Showdown. The two-day event will be hosted at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Georgia, the softball site of the 1996 Olympic Games.
