DEMOREST — The Piedmont College women's basketball team started fast and ended on a strong note to seal a 58-51 win over LaGrange College earlier Wednesday evening to stay perfect in USA South play.
Piedmont held a four-point edge over the Panthers after a quarter but a push by the home team in the 3rd kept LaGrange within striking distance in the mid-week contest. However, PC started the 4th quarter on a 7-0 run to distance themselves from the hosting Panthers.
Though LaGrange would cut it to four with under two to play, Piedmont held the Panthers scoreless over the final 1:23 forcing a turnover and three missed attempts from the field to seal the victory.
The win extends a season-best eight-game winning streak for the Lady Lions who have not dropped a decision since a December 18 loss to Johnson & Wales. Piedmont is also now off to its best USA South start as well since joining the league in 2012-13 having won its first seven conference contests this season.
