Rain, gale force winds likely along Southeast coast

By The Associated Press

CHARLESTON, S.C. —  A storm forming along the Southeast coast is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds from southeast Georgia to the Carolinas.

The National Weather Service in Charleston says the storm system is expected to move along or near the coast Friday, bringing an average of 1 to 2 inches of rain and as much as 3 inches in some areas.

Forecasters say flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

A gale watch has been posted for areas along the Outer Banks. A gale watch means there is a risk of gale force winds of up to 54 mph although the specific timing and location are uncertain.
