A new seafood market and restaurant plans to open later this month in south Gainesville.
The Gainesville Seafood Market will be located at Atlanta Highway and Industrial Boulevard and plans to open January16 with a grand opening set for January 30, complete with "lots of prizes and fun," according to a news release from owner Angel Retana.
Retana says he plans an "upscale yet casual and fun dinning environment." In addition, fresh seafood will be sold.
“I’m extremely excited about the opening and can’t wait for everyone to see all the work that’s gone into provided a great seafood buying and dining experience."
Plans also call for cooking classes and fun things for children. The new restaurant will also feature a special menu item noting its support of local non-profit Thumbs Up who provides retreats for family were a parent has an advance stage of cancer.
Retana is a long time resident of north Georgia and is the owner/operator of Fajitas Mexican Cuisine located on Thompson Bridge Road and El Carreton Taqueria on Atlanta Highway, both in Gainesville. He has over 25 years in the restaurant business and currently lives in Gainesville with his wife and five children.
