FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch offense caught fire in the second quarter to help the Falcons pull away for a 25-13 win over Cedar Shoals on Friday.
The Falcons scored 22 points just before halftime, including two rushing touchdowns for Jasen Johnson, as they notched their second straight win in region play.
Trey Wilcoxson proved the work horse for Flowery Branch (3-2, 2-2 Region 8-AAAAA), rushing 37 times for 198 yards, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Johnson also rushed for 21 yards, as the Falcons put up 246 yards on the ground.
Branch quarterback Kory Graham finished 9 of 13 through the air for 96 yards and a touchdown -- hooking up with Cortez Davis (6 catches, 57 yards) for the score.
Meanwhile, the Falcons defense allowed 223 yards and just one touchdown until the fourth quarter. Jaguars (0-5, 0-4) quarterback Rodney Dillard completed just three passes but had a 71-scoring strike to Greg Smith.
Flowery Branch travels to Winder-Barrow next week.
