Buford runs over White County in 8-AAAA opener

CLEVELAND — Buford opened its Region 8-AAAA in emphatic fashion taking a 49-3 win over White County Friday night at White County Stadium.

Quarterback Mic Roof helped pace the Wolves (3-1, 1-0 Region 8-AAAA) with 189 yards passing and one touchdown pass. Martin Mangram had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first quarter for Buford. Christian Turner added two touchdowns, including a 34-yard scoring run in the third quarter, and Brandon Marsh had a 20-yard touchdown reception from Roof with 8 seconds left in the first half for a 28-0 halftime lead.

Anthony Grant had a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter one play after running a punt 33-yards to the White County 1. A.J. Wansley finished the scoring with a 42-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Wansley led the Wolves with 69 yards rushing.

The Warriors (0-4, 0-1) managed just 72 total yards, all rushing, against the Wolves defense with Kaleb Crane leading the way with 52 yards. Clancy Loundermilk added 46 yards rushing. Bradley Hurst provided White County's only points with a 26-yard field goal.

Adam Johnson had 15 1/2 tackles, including 14 solo tackles, for White County.
