ALPHARETTA — North Forsyth got its Region 6-AAAAAA schedule off to a good start with a 37-27 win over Chattahoochee Friday night on the road.
The Raiders (1-1, 1-0 Region 6-AAAAAA) pounded 198 yards on the ground and held the Cougars (0-2, 0-1) to zero yards rushing in the first half while building 23-8 halftime lead.
North Forsyth extended the lead to 30-8 in the third quarter but had to hold on in the fourth quarter as the Cougars outscored the Raiders 19-7 over the final 12 minutes.
Simon Holcomb paced the Raiders with 132 yards and three touchdowns (29, 3, 3) and also caught a 52-yard touchdown pass. Jacob Baity was 3-for-3 passing for 119 yards and the one touchdown pass and Cody Dwyer added 99 yards rushing for North Forsyth.
The Raiders will travel to unbeaten Northview next week in another 6-AAAAAA battle.
