JEFFERSON - Jefferson looked very much like a team in its third game of the season on Friday.
That wasn't great news for North Hall, as the Trojans embarked on their opening contest of the campaign, falling to the Dragons 35-0 in Jefferson.
The Dragons (3-0) pounded out 216 yards rushing and held North Hall to 55 total yards, setting up an enticing contest next week with its oldest and bitterest rival Commerce -- which is 2-0 on the season.
"I think our defense did a nice job responding tonight and changing after going against two spread teams. Our defense played lights out," Jefferson coach Ben Hall said. "Offensively we still have to find our rhythm; we're not there yet."
The Dragons did enough behind their mammoth offensive line, as Colby Wood finished the contest with 109 yards rushing and two scores on just 13 carries. Darrian Hill also added 51 yards and two scored on nine carries. Yet Jefferson showed its passing game can also make hay, as quarterback Bryce Moore opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown pass to tight end Joseph Randolph late in the first quarter.
Wood and Hill then traded touchdowns -- each scoring once in the second quarter -- as Jefferson pushed its advantage to 21-0 at the half.
Wood maintained teh Dragons' momentum after halftime, exploding for a 51-yard scoring run and a 28-0 advantage.
"We just wanted to finish the game," Hall said.
North Hall, still growing back into the wing-T offense that once trademarked its attack, split carries between nine different rushers, led by Cutter Sanford's 21 yards on five carries.
The Trojans (0-1) will play host to West Hall next week, looking to bounce back.
Jefferson, meanwhile, prepares for its showdown at Commerce.
