GAINESVILLE — As of today, just 30 days remain to buy a brick a part of the Community Public Safety Tribute that will be central to the renovation of Gainesville's Roosevelt Square.
The tribute is the brainchild of Lona Pope, who worked with the Rotary Clubs of Gainesville, Hall County and South Hall to bring the idea to honor local safety personnel to reality.
The tribute will be surrounded by bricks which can be purchased and marked with the names of current or former public safety personnel as well as community members who want to show their support for these men and women, who, through the choice of their profession, reflect the Rotary motto: "Service Above Self."
The tribute was the impetus that prompted city of Gainesville officials to design an even larger renovation of Roosevelt Square.
Bricks are available for purchase until September 30 for $50 and replica bricks are available for $30. They can be purchased online at thatsmybrick.com/rotaryproject. To get more information or to purchase a brick via mail, please contact Michele Parden at [email protected] or 770-531-6765.
The completion date for the tribute is fall 2016.
