'Journey for Justice' march to enter NE Ga. Wed.

The Selma, Ala.-Washington, D.C. "Journey for Justice" march is scheduled to enter northeast Georgia Wednesday.  The 860-mile march begain August 1 and is scheduled to end September 16.

Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope says marchers will enter the region from metro Atlant and travel through Lawrenceville, Dacula, Winder, Athens, Danielsville, Franklin Springs, Royston and Hartwell before moving into South Carolina.

According to the NAACP Website http://www.naacp.org/news/entry/naacp-announces-americas-journey-for-justice, the march is aimed at forcusing attention on a "national policy agenda that protects the right of every American to a fair criminal justice system, uncorrupted and unfettered access to the ballot box, sustainable jobs with a living wage, and equitable public education."

Day 5 – 8/12/2015

Continue on US 29 (GA 14; Main Street) northbound

Approximately 2.2 miles, travel over GA 166

Left (West) on Ralph David Abernathy

Right (North) on Joseph E Lowery

Right (East) on Fair Street

Left (North) on Walker Street

Immediate right (East) on Fair Street

Left (North) on Peters Street

Continue across Spring Street onto Trinity Avenue.

Left (East) on Memorial Drive

Immediate left (North) on Capitol Avenue

Continue across MLK Jr Drive onto Piedmont Avenue

Continue across Edgewood Avenue

Right (East) on Auburn Avenue

Continue on Auburn Avenue (marchers will travel underneath I-85)

Left (North) on Boulevard

Right (East) on Irwin Street

Slight left (northeast) on Lake Avenue

Left (northeast) on Euclid Avenue

Left (North) on Moreland Avenue

Right (East) on US Hwy 78

Continue onto US 29 (GA 8; Lawrenceville Hwy) for approximately 7.3 miles (marchers will travel underneath I-285)

Approximately 0.88 miles past I-285 marks 100 miles from start

Day 6 – 8/13/2015

Continue US 29 (GA 8; Lawrenceville Hwy)

Turn left (North) at Hugh Howell Road to continue northbound on Lawrenceville Hwy

Continue on Lawrenceville Hwy through Lilburn

Continue on East Crogan Street to Lawrenceville

Continue on Winder Hwy through Lawrenceville

Approximately 2.07 miles past Buford Drive at Sweet Gum Road marks 120 miles from start

Day 7 – 8/14/2015 – NO MARCHING

Continue on Winder Hwy US 29 to GA 316
