GAINESVILLE – Paul Maney has been named the recipient of the North Georgia Community Foundation’s 2015 Woodrow Stewart Leadership in Philanthropy Award.
The Woodrow Stewart Leadership in Philanthropy Award is given to philanthropists who show exceptional generosity and a passion for bettering the quality of life in North Georgia. Over the years, Maney has been a supporter of many nonprofit groups in our area, including the Northeast Georgia Health System, the Medical Center Foundation, Junior Achievement, the Rotary Club of Braselton, Eagle Ranch, the Jackson County Humane Society, Challenged Child & Friends and others.
“For many years, Paul has financially supported and given his time freely to many nonprofit and civic organizations in our community,” North Georgia Community Foundation President Jim Mathis said. “Paul has a selfless commitment to the community and a longstanding record of working with organizations that strive to help those in need.”
Maney will be honored at the Foundation’s 11th annual Philanthropy Day Luncheon scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 19 at the First Baptist Church of Gainesville Banquet Hall.
The award is named in honor of the late Woodrow Stewart, who dedicated his life to improving the quality of life in the North Georgia community. His integrity, determination and passion created a philanthropic legacy that will be passed down for generations to come.
Founded in 1985 by Lou Fockele and other business leaders, the North Georgia Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the spirit and quality of life in the Northeast Georgia community by building, managing and awarding charitable grants from a pool of community funds valued in excess of $43 million.
